Ok, I think I've been beating around the bush long enough.
Here's my first post told from the viewpoint of a certain owl - it's a bit long, I'm afraid. And I had to borrow a few characters, sorry. Any other posters here?
PS. English isn't my first language, so please overlook my spellings and grammar errors. DS.

The world was a dark place.
Or rather, Tatsumi’s left pocket was.
003 made as annoyed “hoo”-like sound when the pocket made another violent turn. Tatsumi had been moving around a great deal ever since they had left JuOhCho.
At least, that’s what she thought they had done. Tatsumi may have had a reputation of being a bit… niggardly, but that didn’t mean he’d walk around with holes in his pockets.
003 sighed (if such a thing is possible for an owl).
Had she hitched a ride in Tsuzuki’s pocket, there would (probably) at least have been something edible there.
Life in the 21st century had been slow since most shinigamis had left and frankly, the lab just hadn’t been the same since Watari left.
The toucan had been amusing itself by trying to learn maths, the penguins… well, let’s not get into that.
003 was, now more than ever, convinced that birds were not meant to become addicted to “famikons”.
No, the sooner Watari came back, the sooner they could go back to the comfortable unordered chaos they called their daily life.
And that was the reason for 003’s current situation.
She had fluttered around the lab, desperately trying to get the penguins away from… what was it called?
Oh, never mind, it wasn’t that important anyway, when the Gushoushin brothers had hovered by, carrying a dusty envelope among themselves.
003 usually avoided the Gushoushin brothers – there just was something uncanny about birds being able to fly without flapping its’ wings, but not this time, the envelope was the thing that got her attention and approached them.
She tired to ask them about the contents of the envelope, but apparently, owls and twin… somethings are not on the same wavelength.
She therefore found herself forced to resolve to a rather unorthodox method, meaning basically crashing headfirst into the envelope in question.
“Wa! What are you doing? Be careful, this is a letter for Tatsumi-san!” They squeaked simultaneously.
003 shook her head, feeling a bit dizzy. It had been inelegant but it had at least served it’s purpose. So that’s how it was, she thought, deciding to flutter after the levitating brothers.
Tatsumi, was the moment they entered, sitting behind his desk… chuckling. That, if anything, was a sure sign something was up.
Because he was busy reading the newspaper, 003 had been able to pass into the room unseen. She fluttered over to Tatsumi’s jacket which was hanging on a hanger close to the door and had a brilliant idea.
As Tatsumi opened the letter, scanned it’s contents, while turning an unhealthy shade of crimson and then a surprisingly green one before returning to his normal colour, she quickly dove into his left jacket pocket.
With a violent yank, she was thrown off balance as Tatsumi stormed off… somewhere and that was how she had spent the remaining time up until present (or should that be past) time.
Thank goodness for night vision.

Tatsumi spun around again and 003 found herself lying on her head. “This is so ungraceful”, she thought. She could hear muffled voices through the fabric and decided a quick check of location wouldn’t hurt. She popped her head up and found herself staring into Tsuzuki’s distressed face.
003 made a quick calculation:
Tsuzuki + Tatsumi = scolding,
Tsuzuki + puppy mode = something has happened (probably something bad).
Ability to see Tsuzuki get a scholding = Shinigami company who left to investigate century = 19th = Watari must be in the near vicinity.
003 “hoo”-ed, content with herself. She hadn’t been hanging around that toucan for nothing.
Now, where could Watari be? But first, she had to get out of Tatsumi’s pocket.
After a bit of squeezing, she found herself free and in a kitchen setting. The humans (and the gathered shinigamis) seemed to be preoccupied, so 003 fluttered away unnoticed.
The mansion was big and just as she though she would have to give up, she heard an annoyed voice saying "What did you eat that you shouldn't have Tsuzuki? If it involves money, the cost is coming out of your wage." Se sighed. It was Tatsumi – back to square one.
She was just about to leave, engaging in another pursuit of her lost lab partner when she spotted it. It was small, round and brown and it was… shaking. That was when it looked up.
The small ball of feathers stared at the small ball of dough.
And simultaneously thought “What the…?!”
